37 - Where do diseases originate?

Discussion on originiation of diseases

In the twenty fifth chapter the munis have explained the various factors because of which the disease originate.

All the rishis came in to discuss the same with Lord Punavarsu Atreya. To talk about the Purusha (man). To talk about him and how a man gets a disease.

A man is collection of senses, intellect, body and the spirit.

First, the king of kashi, Vasaka asked "Does diseases originate from the same source?"

After listening to King's question Lord Atreya said "you all munis have discussed the basics. Why don't you answer this question"

Pareekshi Maudgalya rishi said:
The spirit is where from man is born. So it is the spirit which is the cause of all diseases. Spirit is the carrier of karma and takes the punishment of bad karma. Without the spirit, nothing would happen.

Sharloma said:
NO! Spirit does not likes sadness and problems. How can spirit punish itself. It is bcause of RajoGuna or Tamoguna diseases occur in the body.

Vaayovird said:
No! Without the body no disease can occur. What is spirit or intellect without the body? Nothing! So the main playground of the diseases is the body.

Hiranyaksh then said:
NO! A man cannot be born without the six metals. Even the gurus have explained the importance of six metals. So any disease occurs in the body is because of the six metals.

Shaunak then said:
No! Without the parents no man can be born with only the metals. The six metals are okay but the main reason of disease is genetic conditions. It is in the family and that's the main reason behind any imblance or disease in the body.

Bhadrakay said:
NO! that is not correct! It is not always true that a blind man's son would always be blind. A blind man's parents are not always blind too. In reality it is the karma which defines one's disease and health.

Bhardwaj said:
No! A karma cannot occur without the doer! There is no karma that can result into a man. The result always come off karma. It is the nature of the man that is responsible for the diseases. Each have their own behaviour which is responsible for the disease.

Kankayana said:
No! If it was only the behaviour or the nature that was responsible for the results then there would be no use of body! Science, farming, chemistry would have no base without it!

It is the Prajapati (son of Lord Brahma, who created man). He who created the man. He determines about the health and diseases.

Bhikshu Atreya said:
No! Prajapati is the king! A king would never want his countrymen to suffer! In reality a man is born out of time! It is the time that rules everything. So time is the key behind good and bad health.

After listening to this arguement Lord Atreya said:
Don't argue like this! You cannot reach to a conclusion by just looking at one factor!

If you stick to a single thought that you won't reach anywhere. Look at all the aspects, then only you can reach to a valid conclusion close to reality.

Disease occur because of all the factors that have been discussed above. When there is an imbalance, disease would occur

Disease primarily occur because of irregular lifestyle, harmful diet and over usage of the senses.

Imbalance in the tri-doshas and the senses cause diseases of the world.
